“I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and DILIGENTLY shall find me.” (Pro 8:17 AMPC, emphasis mine)
"Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps asking receives; he who keeps seeking finds; and to him who keeps knocking, the door will be opened.” (Mat 7:7-8 CJB)
Throughout the westernized church system, there is heard a well-known saying: “that the Father knows how to get our attention when He needs to”, a saying that I have been guilty of using myself. However, this phrase is a subtle form of arrogance, and certainly a sign of laziness and complacency in our relationship with the One who created us. According to the opening verses above, it is OUR responsibility to seek out Elohim, to seek His wisdom, His fellowship, His direction and guidance, and even His daily instructions. We seek Him out because we love Him, because He is our all in all, never out of obligation, or because He is a type of tyrannical slave driver.
Spending time with our Elohim,
in communion with Him, takes patience and discipline. The first place Abba will speak to us will
always be from His Word, His Torah, and we need to be more than slightly familiar with it. The more of His Word that we deposit in
to ourselves, the better off we are.
Then, as we begin to hold conversations with our Creator, we know and
understand that He will never contradict
His word, for He is His Word (John
1:1; Isa 9:6).
A conversation involves listening. This is again a discipline, something that we
need to train ourselves to do.
Unfortunately, there are those of us that do not know how to stop
talking, and how to simply be quiet and listen. Abba Father is a gentleman and does not
choose to interrupt someone who is speaking.
For those who recognize that this may be one of their problems, all they
must do is ask the Father for His help, and in His grace and mercy, He will
give it.
“Sacrifices
and grain offerings you don't want; burnt offerings and sin offerings you don't
demand. Instead, YOU HAVE GIVEN ME OPEN EARS …” (Ps
40:6 CJB, emphasis mine)
Abba
Father, we are resolved to seek You,
and to hear what You would say to us,
Your children. We repent, Yah, of
ignoring You, of not setting aside the quality time that You deserve, of not
cultivating the type of communion that You have always desired to have with
us. Teach us, Father, to be still, and
to wait upon You. Teach us to recognize Your voice, that we would never follow
any other. And we thank You, Master,
that You will always lead us in the paths of righteousness, for Your Name’s sake. In the Name and authority of Yeshua
HaMashiach, we pray. AMEIN and amein.
“And He said to
me, “Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and
hear with your ears.” (Eze 3:10)
