SHEVAT 10
The Fruit of Love
“But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is LOVE …” (Gal 5:22 AMPC, emphasis mine)
There is a total of nine fruit of the Ruach, the Spirit of Elohim; it has been explained to me that the ‘fruit of love’ is the skin, the peel, if you will, that bonds and holds all the other fruit together. The Word tells us that love covers (Pro 10:12), does no wrong to anyone (Rom 13:10), and never fails (1Cor 13:8). The other eight fruit of the Spirit will not reach maturity without the fertilizing effect of our Elohim’s love working within our hearts and lives, and our fruit-bearing success will be limited to how much free rein we allow Him to have. How many green, unripe fruit have we thrown to the ground because of a moment of stiff-necked pride and rebellion?
Messiah Yeshua re-emphasized instructions from the Torah, concerning our relationships with one another, during His ministry here on this earth: We are to LOVE each other as He loved us, in that He died for us (see Lev 19:18, 34; 1John 2:7-10).
“A renewed command I give to you, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER, as I have loved you, that you also LOVE ONE ANOTHER. By this shall all know that you are My taught ones, if you have LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER.” (John 13:34-35 ISR, emphasis mine)
It is very easy to love those that love us back, as well as those that treat us the way we like to be treated, but what about those people that ridicule, mock, persecute, belittle, aggravate, irritate (and so on) us? Yeshua called us to love the unlovable, and even, if called to, die for them (see Rom 5:7); is that not what unconditional love is supposed to be – I will love you, because I choose to love you, no matter what?
“And above all these [PUT ON] LOVE and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].” (Col 3:14 AMPC, emphasis mine)
Abba, Father, teach us to love with Your love. Fill us, fill us, and fill us to overflowing, that the love of Yahweh may be shed abroad to the entire world through us. For Elohim so loved the world that He gave us Yeshua! That most Precious Gift of all – how can a mere “thank you” be enough! We love You, Father, and we thank You. Amein and Amein…
