Trials

 

“Yet He knows the way I take; when HE has TESTED ME, I will come out like gold.” (Job 23:10 CJB, emphasis mine)

 

Every four years, somewhere in this world, the Olympic Games are held.   Millions of us will watch spellbound, witnessing different athletes from around the world compete for ‘the gold’.  The Olympic Games are a tradition many centuries old; however, for the athlete competing at the Games, the road to get there is a long one.  Great are the testing grounds that these prospective “Olympians” go through:  the commitment to excellence; the consistency in training; the trials that must be endured (physical, mental, and emotional), just to name a few.  Only by cultivating tunnel vision, by keeping their eyes on the goal of the Olympic Gold Medal, are these athletes able to endure all that they must.

 

Is it not the same for us?  As we pass through our own ‘Olympic Trials’, we are also to keep our eyes on the prize (Phi 3:14).  And yet, how many of us murmur and complain at the very trial that is refining us, perfecting us, bringing us closer and closer toward the image of our Messiah Yeshua (Rom 8:29)?  As it is true in the natural, so it is true in the spiritual: we cannot pass from grade school, on to middle school, without first completing, and passing, all the required tests! 

 

Brothers and sisters, the hour is late, we must go on to perfection, as our Creator is calling us to do (Heb 6:1-3).  Elohim is looking for those who will carry His Word, be His light, be His salt in any and all circumstances.  He is searching for those that have been “tried and tested” and have come forth without even the smell of smoke upon their garments (Dan 3:27).  Let us purpose in our hearts to not just pass the test, but to rise to the top of the class!

 

“Even gold is tested for genuineness by fire. THE PURPOSE OF THESE TRIALS is so that your trust's genuineness, which is far more valuable than perishable gold, will be judged worthy of praise, glory and honor at the revealing of Yeshua the Messiah.” (1Pet 1:7 CJB, emphasis mine) 

 

“But You have known me, O יהוה. You see me, and You have TRIED MY HEART toward You.”  (Jer 12:3, emphasis mine)
