Your Daily Slice

KISLEV 6

My Desire

“And DELIGHT yourself in יהוה, And let Him give you the desires of your heart.” (Ps 37: 4, emphasis mine)

Mankind, just by being human, is by nature self-centered – focused entirely on having MY needs met, MY wants fulfilled, MY desires catered to.  However, once an individual enters into an intimate relationship with their Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the focus should then become completely opposite; we (or me) are no longer the center of attention or importance.  It is now ‘all about Him’, and we must relinquish the need for center stage.  Turning our eyes on our Creator, we need Him to become the desire of our life and heart.

This word ‘delight’ translated from the original Hebrew, is the word ậnag (Strong’s H6026), and included in the meaning is the essence of being soft and pliable, delicate and dainty of habit.  Not only are we to take exquisite delight and great pleasure in our Creator, we are also to be happy and merry as we remain pliable, moldable, easily shaped and bent on the Potter’s Wheel (see Rom 9:20-21).  We can only be successful in this endeavor by continuing to walk in emunah, in trust and belief, knowing Him in whom we trust, and that He is faithful.  Just as He is our delight, we are His, and He will always be a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6).

“If you return to the Almighty, you are built up. If you remove unrighteousness far from your tents, and lay YOUR gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the wadis, then THE ALMIGHTY SHALL BE YOUR GOLD AND YOUR SILVER, STRENGTH TO YOU. Then you shall certainly DELIGHT in the Almighty, and lift up your face to Eloah, make your prayer to Him. And He shall hear you, and you shall pay your vows.  And whatever you decide on shall be established for you, and light shine on your ways.”  (Job 22:23-28, emphasis mine)

“Adonai … DELIGHTS in the prayers of the upright.”  (Pro 15:8 CJB, emphasis mine)

Avinu Malkeinu, our Father, our King, we turn our eyes upon You.  You are our desire, our delight, and we focus upon You.  We offer You our thanks, for who You are, and for what You are:  our Father, our Creator, our Redeemer, our Beginning, our End, the very breathe that we draw, every beat of our hearts.  There is nothing without You … we give You our hearts, our lives, all that we are, willingly, for we belong to You.  May we be Your light, Your hands, Your voice, as You see fit, Adonai, Master.  In the Name that is above every name, Yeshua of Nazareth, our Messiah, Amein and AMEIN …
