Of Good Report
“For the rest, brothers … whatever is of good report
– think on these.” (Phi 4:8)
The Apostle Paul told us, point
blank, to “rejoice with those who rejoice” (Rom 12:15); there is no room here
for exceptions to the case. I would like
to suggest that occasions of rejoicing may also be ‘things of good report’ and
are worth rehearsing and remembering often.
Such reports are not only a joy to our
soul, but they also serve the purpose of building up our emunah, our trust and belief. They remind us of Abba Father’s faithfulness,
not only to us, His children, but to His Word, which He watches over to
validate and perform (Jer 1:12).
Bad reports will come; however,
it is how we choose to deal with them
that is of concern to our Elohim. Every
bad report serves as an opportunity for our miracle working Father to show
Himself strong on our behalf (2Chr 16:9), which is, in itself, another occasion
we can choose to rejoice. He is the El-Shaddai,
ALL-Mighty Elohim, and nothing is too difficult for Him! These are the type of thoughts that we need
to concentrate and focus on, the reports that we know are true and to be believed!
“The light of the eyes rejoices the heart; and a good report makes the bones fat.” (Pro 15:30, HRVS)
“Who has believed our report? And to whom was the arm
of יהוה revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1)
