TISHRI 15
Salvation
“And You give me the shield of Your
deliverance …” (Ps 18:35 ISR)
Many translations use the word “salvation” here in
this verse; both are correct. The word
that has been translated from the Hebrew is the word yêsha‛ (Strong’s #H3468), and, among other meanings, is
closely related to the name of our Messiah, Yeshua. This particular word used here is a noun, and
includes the sense of safety, well-being, prosperity, victory, and
salvation. All of this taken together is
in truth a formidable shield, protecting and insulating us as no one but our
Elohim can.
Personally, I believe there is a Messianic
implication found in these words, for everything that yêsha‛ provides for us we
find in our relationship with our Messiah Yeshua. He
is our salvation (Acts 4:12), He is
our deliverance (Luke 4:18, and our victory comes through Him (1Cor 15:57). Would you
suppose that David, the author of this Psalm, was perhaps looking down through
the centuries, and recognizing what our Messiah would bring?
“See, יהוה has proclaimed to the end of the earth: “Say to the daughter of Tsiyon, ‘See, your deliverance
has come; see, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.’ ” (Isa 62:11 ISR)
“My deliverance and my
esteem depend on Elohim; The
rock of my strength, my refuge is in Elohim.”
(Ps 62:7 ISR)
