Turning Back
“But
My servant Kalĕḇ, because he has a different spirit in him
and HAS FOLLOWED ME COMPLETELY, I shall bring into the land where he went, and
his seed shall inherit it.”
(Num 14:24 ISR, emphasis mine)
Elohim instructed Moses to send twelve men, each man a leader in
his own right, into the land of Canaan, to “check things out” (Num 13:2). After traveling the length and breadth of the
land, the twelve returned, bringing with them evidence of the fruitfulness of
this promised land (Num 13:26-27).
Ten of the twelve men returned with a negative report, describing
the impossibility - in their eyes - of conquering this wonderful land (Num
13:28-33). These ten had looked on the inhabitants
that were already there, and it had turned their faith to fear. We know from the Scriptures that the cost of
this “bad report” was spending an additional 40 years of wandering in the
wilderness. Of the twelve men that spied
out the land, the ten who gave the bad report perished, and only Joshua and Caleb
were allowed to enter this “land flowing
with milk and honey” (see Num 14).
What made these two men so different from the others? Having grown up as “children of the promise”,
they were well aware that Elohim had promised this land to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The people that were living there at that
time were the intruders, not the Israelites.
And having already witnessed the many incredible miracles that YHWH had
done to bring them this far, out of the slavery of Egypt, would He not also be
able to bring about the conquest of the land He had promised to give to them?
“If
יהוה
has delighted in us, then He shall bring us into this land and give it to us,
‘a land which is flowing with milk and honey.’ Only, do not rebel against יהוה,
nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread. Their defence has
turned away from them, and יהוה is with us. Do not fear them.” (Num 14:8-9 ISR)
We are standing at
the threshold, at the doorway, of a new, different season, what many refer to
as the “end times”. For some, the
negative reports will be overwhelming, and it will seem, to the natural eye,
there is no way that we can “go in and take this land” (Deu 1:8). We have the choice of whose report we are going to believe: the report coming through our five senses and
our flesh (with the help of our adversary), or the report from ABBA Father, and
His Word, His Torah, both the written and the Living. I venture to say
that we are not the intruders here; we are “children of the promise”, having
been grafted in (Rom 11:17-23) through our emunah,
our faith, trust and belief in our Living
Elohim.
The earth is YHWH's,
with all that is in it, the world and those who live there (Ps 24:1). We will stand,
and stop being so fearful! We will remain steady, and we will see how our Creator is going to deliver
us. He will do it, for He is the same
yesterday, today, and forever! (Ex 14:13, Heb 13:8) Hallelu-YAH!
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold [on to] your peace and remain at rest.” (Ex 14:14 Amp, insert mine)
