“The
wrong are not so,” (Ps 1:4 ISR)
The same word translated
as “wrong” here, in verse 4, is the same word used in the first verse of Psalm 1: râshâ‛ (Strong’s #H7563), and it means one who is wicked or criminal. In verse 1, this word was directing us to
whose counsel we should avoid; in our opening verse, our Father is drawing
attention to all that the “wrong” are not. Using Psalm 1 as our guide, let us look at
all they are NOT.
1. They are not blessed
2. They do not give godly counsel
3. Quite possibly, they are found hanging out in
the path of sinners
4. They may also be found in the company of
those who mock, ridicule, insult, and despise not only the people of YHWH, but the
Creator Himself
5. They do NOT find any use or purpose for the
Torah of our Elohim, nor do they regard it with reverence
6. And they certainly do not waste their time learning,
studying, and applying it to them selves
7. Their lives speak of dryness,
brittleness. Because of their lack of
YAH’s Word, what little water is applied to their lives is not the nourishment
that is needed to find true fulfillment
8. More than likely, what fruit is evident will
be of the flesh, with very little evidence of anything else
9. Hmmm … what can we say about this
individual’s “leaf”. How about “these
people may possibly be unclean about their person, with strong odors, evidence
of what they ingest.” And maybe there
are no leaves at all …
10. It may be there is no
success in their lives, at anything, including financial, home life, etc.
I am sure all of us can think of individuals that would fit into these
categories; none the less, let us first
turn those fingers toward ourselves. Can
any of these character traits be found lingering within us, stopping us from
reaching the goal of “Messiah
in you, the hope of glory” (Col 1:27)? Let us all press
on, keep on “keeping on”, as we strive to become the type of person our Father
desires of us.
