The King’s Kingdom

May your Kingdom come …” (Mat 6:10 CJB)

For every kingdom, there must be a King, a Sovereign, a ruler.  For example, Great Britain has the 2nd longest reigning monarchy in the history of the world, with Denmark being the longest.  Both of these nations are, at present, ruled by women:  Queen Elizabeth the 2nd of Great Britain, and Queen Margrethe the 2nd of Denmark.  Those of us who recognize and submit to the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob also have a King; His reign is everlasting, and without question (see Ps 45:6; 145:13).

Throughout the four Gospels, we are given many allegories of what the Kingdom of our Elohim is like; time and space does not allow me to pursue these individually.  However, there are several statements made by our Master Yeshua that give us an indication of how to apprehend this Kingdom.  First, Yeshua told us in Mat 7:24 that It will not be that just everyone who says to Me, Master, Master, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who DO the will of My Father in Heaven.  What is the Father’s will?  Torah.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Second, Messiah instructed us to “… seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness …” (Matt 6:33).  It would stand to reason that we learn of our King, His Kingdom, and His reign through the words of His divine instructions in moral and righteous living, His Torah.  When we combine these two verses from Matthew, we recognize that the learning and the doing is what will bring us closer to His kingdom.

Once more, Yeshua was referencing the Amidah with His comment concerning a King, and a Kingdom.  Quoting from the Amidah, “King, helper, savior & a shield, blessed are You Lord, Shield of Avraham”, as well as “Who resembles you, a King who puts to death and restores to life, and causes salvation to flourish?”[1]  Most assuredly, a king that has dominion over life and death is one whose kingdom we would desire to be a part of.

Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear! (Matt 13:43 TLV)

Your kingdom is an EVERLASTING kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. (Ps 145:13 AMPC, emphasis mine)

May Your reign come soon, Abba, beginning with ME.
