NISAN 23
With Me
“… for You are WITH me …” (Ps 23:4 ISR,
emphasis mine)
This is a statement that is fundamental – and foundational - to our emunah, our entire belief system, and
one we need to accept as a certainty, fact, and the truth. We must KNOW
what we believe, whom we believe in, and know that our Elohim is incapable of telling a lie (see 1Sam
15:29). If He has said He will do something, then it is as good as
done.
When we look at the life of the author of Psalm 23, we learn that David, the shepherd King, knew what he was talking about. From his experiences as a youth guarding the sheep, his battle with Goliath (see 1Sam 17), through his ‘hide and seek’ time period with King Saul, and to his later battles while he himself was King, David knew the presence of his Creator. His emunah in the One that formed him had been tried and tested and came forth as pure gold (Job 23:10; 1Pet 1:2).
When seasons of doubt attempt to overwhelm us, all we need to do is look in the rear-view mirror. When we begin to recount the many times, the many circumstances, the many situations that Adonai our Elohim brought us through, when He was walking right there with us, our vision will once more readjust, and our emunah will once again be strong. We have His Word on it.
“Chazak!
Be courageous! Do not be afraid or tremble before them. For Adonai your God—He
is the One who goes WITH you. He will not fail you or abandon you.” (Deu
31:6 TLV, emphasis mine)
“For He Himself has said, “I shall never leave you nor forsake you …” (Heb 13:6 ISR)
