“Practice what you have learned and
received and heard and seen IN ME, and
model YOUR way of living on it …” (Phi 4:9 AMPC, emphasis mine)
As we
can see from our opening verse, the concept of having a role model is a
biblical principle, someone who is an ‘example’ that we can pattern our lives
after. Actions have always spoken louder
than words. Many a time it is the
consistency of a person’s life, and lifestyle, that has won that one person over to the camp of our Elohim,
the one who otherwise would not have even been interested.
Daniel
was such a role model. The Bible speaks
of Daniel having “an excellent spirit” (Dan 5:12,14; 6:3), and that “no fault
could be found in him” (Daniel 6:4). He
is only one of many examples that can be taken from the Scriptures to pattern
our lives after. The faith chapter,

However, there are others still alive today that are worthy to be called role models. Look carefully at those that have been walking faithfully with our Elohim for an extended period of time and inspect the fruit that is visible in their lives. We can learn much from examples that are still before us if we would just watch and listen … and then “practice what we have … received”. It is then “the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.” (Phi 4:9 AMPC).
“For you yourselves know how you ought to IMITATE US,
for we were not disorderly among you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without
paying for it, but worked with labour and toil night and day, in order not to
burden any of you, not because we do not have authority, but TO MAKE OURSELVES
AN EXAMPLE, for you to IMITATE US.” (2The 3:7-9
ISR, emphasis mine)
