ADAR 19
Light
“You are the light of the
world. It is impossible for a city to be hidden on a mountain.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a
basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines to all those in the house.” (Mat
5:14-15 ISR)
The sun is the principal source of
light in our universe, and the Scriptures tell us that the sun was created by
Elohim (Gen 1:14-19).  With the further
discovery of fire, mankind learned how to keep darkness at a distance, and
those things that the darkness could hide were no longer a threat.
Adonai our Elohim is Himself Light (Isa 60:19; John 8:12), and there is no darkness in Him, for there is nothing in Him that needs to be concealed. When we enter a covenant relationship with our Creator, we also become acquainted with the Breath of Elohim, the Ruach HaKodesh. This holy breath of YAH, we need to remember, is also the Spirit of Truth, from whom nothing is concealed or hidden (see John 14:17; 1Cor 2:10).
For those of us who “hunger and thirst after righteousness” (Mat 5:6), Elohim will act as a ‘window cleaner’, to clear and clean, and even remove, if necessary, those places within us that would inhibit His light from shining out of us. When we reach the place of transparency, we reach the place where our lives are our witness, our testimony. We willingly, joyfully, allow His light to shine through us, and those whom we meet will know that we belong to the Creator of the universe.
“Let YOUR light so shine
before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble,
and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who
is in heaven.” (Mat 5:16 AMPC, emphasis mine)
