Happy New Year!

OUR PLANS

“Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand.” (Pro 19:21 AMPC)

New Year’s resolutions are a tradition many centuries old; we have all made them, and I am sure most of us have broken at least one of them as well.  It appears that with the beginning of a New Year upon us, we feel almost compelled to make new plans for ourselves, new beginnings, think new thoughts, and have a bright new purpose for our lives.

However, one of the reasons that many New Year’s resolutions may not be successful is because they are not made in accordance with our Creator.  When we choose to make plans and decisions without asking Abba Father, we are, in reality, in rebellion.  We cannot continue to walk in OUR OWN AGENDA and expect our Father to honor it, for we no longer belong to ourselves (see Luke 17:7-10; 1Peter 1:18-19; James 4:13-16).  As children, and servants of El Elyon, the Most High God, we must take our instructions from Him.  An employee, or servant, never tells his/her employer, or Master, what they are going to do; they stand in obedience, waiting to receive instructions.

An obedient, loving child should not be much different.  This young child, secure in the parent’s love and care, may ask or petition the parent for certain needs and desires, but should not be foolish enough to embark on self-made plans that would venture away from the parent’s care and protection.  Such action has the potential of failure, destruction, and even death.

Our Creator has plans for each one of us for this coming year, if we would take the time to individually seek Him, and ask of Him what He would desire of us to do.  He waits patiently … it is after midnight … have you made your New Year’s resolution?  Can we start this New Year with a resolution to “draw near to ELOHIM and He shall draw near to you? (see James 4:8)

For I know the plans that I have in mind for you,” declares Adonai, “plans for shalom and NOT CALAMITY—to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call on Me, and come and pray to Me, and I WILL LISTEN TO YOU.  You will seek Me and find Me, when you will search for Me with all your heart. (Jer 29:11-13 TLV, emphasis mine)
