Hanukkah 6^th Night

“And the city has no need of the shemesh (sun) nor of the levanah (moon) that they may shine in it, for the kavod (glory) of Hashem illumined it and its menorah is the SEH (Lamb).” (Rev 21:23 OJB)

“No more will the sun be your light by day, nor the glow of the moon be your light, but Adonai will be your everlasting light, and your God for your glory.” (Isa 60:19 TLV)

There will be the day, eventually, when we – those of us who worship AND serve the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – will stand before the ultimate Judge of the universe, and hopefully will enter the reign of our Father and Creator (see Mat 13:14; 25:14-30).  Many are the promises that pertain to that time; however, I would like us to focus on the promise of eternal light, as found in our opening verses.  No more darkness, where much is hidden.  No more uncertainty, for all is clearly illuminated and visible.  And with this light will come warmth and security, and everlasting shalom.

Most of us, at one time or another, have applied for a position of employment that was not only promising, but very important to us.  An application was filled out, a resume was submitted, and the long process of interviews and the final selection was endured.  The similarity of this process to that which will gain us entry into the Father’s Kingdom is quite remarkable – please, let me explain.

This application ought to reveal our acceptance of and submission to Adonai Elohim; He is our Elohim, our Creator, our Father, as well as Yeshua of Nazareth as our Redeemer, Deliverer, and Messiah.  Without this appearing on our application, there is NO entry.  Our resume should include our adherence to the Torah of our Creator, how we Sh’ma – hear and obey.  Further study of this resume should also reveal our love and devotion to our Elohim, reflecting in our love and concern for our neighbors, and especially the widows, orphans and the poor.  Without any of this, we are not qualified for what is being offered, no matter how much we THINK we are.

The concept of living in the eternal light that is our Elohim is one that I have difficulty getting my mind around – it is really beyond my comprehension.  However, the understanding that this is my goal, my destination, my forever habitation is one that I cling to.  As in the words of an old Hank Williams song, “No more darkness, no more night, Now I'm so happy, no sorrow in sight, Praise the Lord, I saw the light”.  Amein!
