TAMMUZ 24
His Paths
“And many peoples shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the House of the Elohim of Yaʽaqoḇ, and
let Him teach us His ways, and let us WALK IN HIS PATHS, for out of Tsiyon
comes forth the Torah, and the Word of יהוה from Yerushalayim.” (Isa 2:3, emphasis mine)
There
is a progression in this verse: we must first go to the source, the foundation,
the beginning, “to the mountain of יהוה,” and to “the House of the Elohim of Yaʽaqoḇ”. We must recognize that He IS (Ex 3:14), that He is our Creator
(Gen 2:7), our beginning (Rev 1:8), and our Elohim (Ex 20:2-5). We must
acknowledge His rule and reign over
our lives (Deu 10:12), and we must admit that without Him, we can do nothing
(John 15:5).
Then, WE
must allow Him “to teach us His ways”.
What are ‘His ways’? Torah, His
divine instructions in moral and righteous living. We must look at and understand all that is
required of us in our relationship
with our Elohim, and observe all the ‘if’s’ – those places where our correct
actions are mandatory. We must learn
to sh’ma, to hear and obey (Deu
6:4-9), the mitzvot, the commandments
that are found throughout the pages of Torah.
We must
also recognize that Torah is our instruction manual on our halacha, the way of life for a child of the Living Elohim. These are the paths that we are to walk in (hâlak), these are the directions we are
to follow as we journey along life’s highway.
We need to recognize the safety and security of this instruction manual,
and know that our Elohim will never
leave us half-baked, but will always complete
the work which He began in us (Eph 2:10; Phil 1:6).
It is
important to recognize that the Hebrew nation, the Jews, are the guardians of
the Torah, for it is from them that we first learn of its existence. In the history of the Hebrew nation, the one
thing that has remained constant is the existence and validity of the
Torah. Our Elohim chose to give the Torah to THIS
nation, this group of people, and
their status as His chosen ones will never change. When we
choose to make the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob our own, when we choose
to follow and observe His Torah, we are then ‘grafted in’ (see Rom 11), and can
be recognized as part of Israel.
When
our Messiah King returns to this earth, it will be to Jerusalem. He is not arriving in the United States of
America, or Europe, Africa, Asia, or Australia.
His feet will be planted firmly in Jerusalem (Zec 14:4), the city that
has been special to Elohim throughout the centuries. We are told in the
Scriptures that when this time comes, the Torah will come forth out of
Jerusalem (see also Mic 4:2), and that the nations must come to Him, especially during the Feast of
Sukkot (Zec 14:16-17).
To
those of us who diligently attempt to ‘walk in His ways’, we make note of a
‘circle’ of understanding concerning our Messiah Yeshua: He is the ‘Word made flesh’ (John 1:1, 14);
He is ‘the way, the truth and the
life’ (John 14:6, emphasis mine), and we know that the ‘Torah is truth’ (Ps
119:142). We therefore understand that
the Torah that will come from Jerusalem will come through Yeshua, who is the
walking, talking Torah. May it be soon,
Abba, even in our day …
“And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And he who hears, let him say, “Come!” And
he who thirsts, come! And he who desires it, take the water of life without
paying!” (Rev 22:17)
