Which God?
“I am YAHWEH your Elohim, who has brought you out from the land of
Egypt, from the house of bondage. You shall not have ANY OTHER ELOHIM [gods] BEFORE MY FACE.” (Ex 20:2-3, HRB, emphasis and insert mine)
“For I am יהוה, I
shall not change.” (Mal 3:6)
It has been more than
ten years ago that I stumbled across a certain post (on Facebook) made by a young
lady from my ‘friends’ list. This woman professed and confessed an intimate relationship with the Elohim of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob, and with Messiah Yeshua of Nazareth. In the post that she made, she stated that her
writings and teachings were not ‘centered
and based on the Word of God – they were centered on God Himself.’ In the years since this post, this
same young lady has labeled herself a “prophetess” – but whose oracle is she prophesying?
Every structure must have a solid firm, foundation; this
is a Biblical principal (Luke 6:48), and it is also a law of physics. What most of us now consider and call our
Bible is built upon the foundation of Torah; in the 3500 some years since it
was given, Torah still stands as strong as it ever did. Throughout all four of the Gospels found in
the Apostolic Writings (New Testament), Messiah Yeshua continually confirmed
and exemplified the instructions given through the pages of the Torah.
However, when we do not
center and build all our beliefs on
the foundation of the WORD of Elohim, then we do not have the
Bible as our anchor, as our bedrock. And
if our belief system does not line up with the divine instructions in righteous
and moral living, then the question comes into play as to whose word are
we listening to?
How can we live a life
centered on our Elohim, and His Torah, a life using Messiah Yeshua as our
example, without the Word of Yahweh? It is impossible; our Elohim and His Word are
inseparable. Therefore, my question is,
if these “writings, teachings and prophecies” given by the young lady of our
opening paragraph (and others like her), are not centered on the Word of Elohim – who is Himself the El-Emet, the God of truth, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – then what god are
they centered on?
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from the
heavens, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth
and bud, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so is My Word that
goes forth from My mouth – it does not return to Me empty, but shall do what I
please, and shall certainly accomplish what I sent it for.”
(Isa 55:10-11)
