ADAR 19
Light
“You
are the light of the world. It is impossible for a city to be hidden on a
mountain. Nor do they light a lamp and
put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines to all those in the
house.” (Mat
5:14-15)
The
sun is the principal source of light in our universe, and the Scriptures tell
us that the sun was created by Elohim (Gen 1:14-19). With the further discovery of fire, mankind
learned how to keep the darkness at bay, and those things that the darkness
could hide were no longer a threat.
Yahweh
our Elohim is Himself Light (Isa 60:19; John 8:12), and there is no darkness in Him, for there is nothing in Him that
needs to be concealed. When we enter a
covenant relationship with our Creator, we also become acquainted with the Spirit
of Elohim, the Ruach HaKodesh. This holy
breath of YAH, we need to remember, is also the Spirit of Truth, from whom nothing is
concealed or hidden (see John 14:17; 1Cor 2:10).
For
those of us who “hunger and thirst after righteousness” (Mat 5:6), Elohim will
act as a ‘window cleaner’, to clear and clean, and even remove, if necessary,
those places within us that would inhibit His
light from shining out of us. When we
reach the place of transparency, we reach the place where our lives are our witness,
our testimony, and those whom we meet will know
that we belong to the Creator of the universe.
We willingly, joyfully, allow His light
to shine through us.
“Let
YOUR light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your
praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and
glorify your Father Who is in heaven.” (Mat
5:16 AMPC, emphasis mine)
