ADAR 8
Parched
“I spread forth my hands unto You; my soul thirsts
after You, as a weary land. Selah”
(Ps 143:6 HRV)
The drought conditions we have witnessed in
different parts of the United States during the last decade have been an on
again/off again story. The resulting
fires caused by the dry conditions have been heart breaking, as we watch
families lose their homes, belongings, and even their lives, to these merciless
forces of nature. A lack of water in, and on, the land is a serious and critical issue, one that we have
little means of alleviating in our own human capacity. It is Yahweh Elohim, our Creator, who gives
us rain in due season, but when the heavens are shut up, we pray, and trust in
our Abba Father.
Consider, if you would, the lack of ‘spiritual’
water in our personal lives. While there
may be times in our relationship with our Creator where He has allowed us to
wander in to a dry, desert place, there are also many times when a needless dry
place is of our own making. The water
that our Elohim provides for us, to nourish the spirit man within us, is never
in short supply. Why, then, do we neglect
the source of this life-giving water (John 4:13-14)? Do we really
believe that we can exist without a continual, fresh supply? Without this fresh supply, we run the risk of
becoming dry, brittle, and perhaps even ‘stagnant’, lacking the aroma of life
that only Messiah Yeshua can bring …
“WAIT and
listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless,
spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts
the blessing].” (Isa 55:1 AMPC)
“I, יהושע, have sent My messenger to
witness to you these matters in
the assemblies. I am the Root and the Offspring of Dawiḏ, the Bright and
Morning Star. And the Spirit and the
bride say, “COME!” And he who hears, let him say, “COME!” And he who thirsts, COME!
And he who desires it, take the water of life without paying!” (Rev
22:16-17, emphasis mine)
