The Fruit of Peace

“But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is … PEACE.” (Gal 5:22 AMPC, emphasis mine)

I read a statement some years ago, that in the eons since the creation of our world (around six thousand years, according to many bible theologians), there have been approximately two hundred of those six thousand free from war and strife.  This world is surely looking for ‘peace’, in every form and in any way that it might be found.  However, true and lasting peace is only found in one place: in the Man, Yeshua our Messiah.

The Hebrew word that has been translated as ‘peace’ is the word shalom (Strong’s H7965) and means much more than just peace.  Shalom contains within its meaning a sense of completeness, a sense of being whole, lacking nothing.  Filled with calm and tranquility, shalom also instills contentment, and an implication of safety and security.

Shalom results from the effect of knowing to whom we belong and being content in that belonging.  When we stand in our rightful relationship as a child of our Elohim, we are secure in His love, and protected by His mercy and favor.  With every need provided for through the love of His Son (see Phi 4:19), we are now free from all anxiety, which is the adversary of peace.  By allowing our Creator to cultivate this very important fruit in our lives, the peace of Elohim will become our buffer against all the trials and tribulations that we find ourselves walking through in our lifetime.  We have now entered the care, the rest, of our Abba Father, and not only are we at peace, but we are also filled with peace.

“You will guard him and keep him in PERFECT AND CONSTANT PEACE whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.” (Isa 26:3 AMPC, emphasis mine)

And the PEACE OF ELOHIM, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds through Messiah יהושע.” (Phi 4:7, emphasis mine)

Abba Yahweh, we yield to You, and we ask that You fill us, fill us, FILL us with Your perfect peace. Help us to trust You with all the cares of this life, and may our lives be a reflection of Your peace shining through us.  Amein and Amein!
