Instruction Manual
“Poverty and shame come to him who
REFUSES instruction and correction, but he who heeds reproof is honored.”
(Pro 13:18 Amp, emphasis mine)
The
bottom drawer of one of my filing cabinets holds all of the instruction and
owner’s manuals for virtually every appliance and equipment we own – from
toasters and vacuum cleaners, to lawn mowers and my husband’s welder. The
common instructions found in all of these manuals is 1) read all of the
instructions before attempting to operate, and 2) keep and save the
manual. Yet, how often do we purchase an
appliance and discard the manual, believing we already know how to operate and
use it? And how many times, because of this type of attitude, have we found
ourselves in trouble, and had to go back and study the manual?
A brand
new farm tractor can cost well over $100,000, depending on size and make. That is a small fortune, and to not
familiarize ourselves with the owner’s manual on this expensive piece of
equipment is foolish. There are safety
precautions that need to be learned, and the ‘don’ts’ are just as important as
the ‘dos’. My husband’s welder, even
though he has been welding for many years, had new features on it that he was
not immediately familiar with. Through
studying the instruction manual, that issue was quickly resolved.
Our
Creator gave us an instruction manual that 1) we need to read and do, and 2) we are to save, keep, and
guard. And for those instructions that
we have trouble understanding, there are Elohim-anointed and appointed ‘service
technicians’ that we can call for help.
Trying to live our lives without the benefit of this instruction manual
is nothing but pride and stupidity. We
are of far more worth than a $100,000 tractor; we have been purchased with
blood that is more precious than anything imaginable. And yet we dare to walk daily without the guidelines given to us? I would
venture to say that this is nothing more than rebellion against the One who
formed us within our mother’s womb.
Abba, Father, fill us with a hunger,
a thirst for You, and Your Word. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a
heart that yearns for Your truth. Let us
become Your living epistle, to be read
by all that we come into contact with.
And may be eager, willing, to be obedient to all of Your instructions,
at all times. AMEIN!
Have you
read your manual today?
