Your Daily Slice

Sivan 15
Testing, testing

“Blessed be the Name of Elah forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.  And He changes the times and the seasons. He removes sovereigns and raises up sovereigns. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who possess understanding.  He reveals deep and secret matters. He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.  I thank You and praise You, O Elah of my fathers. You have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of You, for You have made known to us the sovereign’s matter.” (Dan 2:20-23 ISR)

Most of us are familiar with who Daniel is, and the story of Daniel being thrown into the lion’s den is fairly well known.  There is, however, another “showdown” found in the book of Daniel that is not as often spoken of, yet is also of great importance.  Found in chapter two of the book of Daniel, this story begins with King Nebuchadnezzar suffering from a reoccurring dream, and not being able to understand what the meaning of this dream was.  Reaching a place of frustration, the king called together all of his magicians and astrologers, promising great riches and honor to the one who could not only tell him what the dream was, but also the correct interpretation of this dream.

The king’s so-called “wise men” admitted that unless the king himself related the dream to them, they had no way of interpreting what it meant.  None of them could tell the king what his dream was; they were all in agreement that it was not humanly possibly (Dan 2:10-11).  But, there is a God, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and He revealed to Daniel not only the king’s dream, but also it’s interpretation (Dan 2:27-30), in order that King Nebuchadnezzar would know, that there IS a God in Heaven, and He rules over the affairs of men (Dan 2:47).

How it must grieve and sadden our YHWH Elohim to see His children, blood bought and “supposed” to be walking in faith, “supposed” to be depending on Him and His counsel, still turning to magicians and astrologers for guidance and direction!  What wisdom is there in a “zodiac sign”?  What knowledge and understanding is there to be found in a deck of “tarot cards”?  Yet it is amazing how many scripture quoting, Torah observant, Bible reading, born-again believers read their daily “horror–scopes”, and “consult the cards” before making any major decisions in their lives! What limited success these mediums have is completely circumstantial (Dan 5:8), and should never be relied upon.  Beloved, we cannot continue in this vein.  We cannot drink from the cup of devils, and from the cup of our Master at the same time.  Who do we belong to; who do we serve?

There are those that would say that there is no harm done; but every door open to the enemy is harm done.  Let us all resolve in our heart’s TODAY, this day that the YHWH has made, that we belong to Him, and only Him, and that He will not ever again have to share us with anyone or anything …

And what union has the Dwelling Place of Elohim with idols? For you are a Dwelling Place of the living Elohim, as Elohim has said, “I shall dwell in them and walk among them, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.””  (2Cor 6:16 ISR)

Examine me, O יהוה, and prove me; Try my kidneys and my heart. For Your kindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth.”  (Ps 26:2-3 ISR)
