Sivan 17
Loving One Another
“A renewed command I give to you, that
you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By
this shall all know that you are My taught ones, if you have LOVE FOR ONE
ANOTHER.” (John
13:34-35 ISR, emphasis mine)
There have been many definitions
surface through the years concerning the word “unconditional”; simply put, it
means, “regardless”. Regardless of the
situation, regardless of the circumstances, regardless of whether you return my
love or not, I choose to love you, I make it an act of my
will to love you.
Unconditional love begins first in
the home, with our families; it is never self-seeking, self-serving, or
self-promoting. Because love requires action, the one walking
in unconditional love will always place the needs, wants, and desires of others
before their own. Most of us parents can
relate to this, in placing the needs of our children before ourselves.
“Love each other
devotedly and with brotherly love; and set examples for each other in showing
respect.” (Rom
12:10 CJB)
Brothers and sisters, should it not
also be so in our local congregations?
Are we not called the family of
YHWH our Elohim; are we not all one body (see 1Cor 12:12-26)? And yet there seems to be as much competition
within the body of Messiah as there is outside of it. Beloved, this ought not to be so. The world watches closely how we deal with
each other; our lives should be revealing the treasure we have – a treasure
that they not only need, but should fiercely desire. Let’s display something real, some ONE called
Messiah Yeshua, the living Torah.
“…make my joy complete
by being of the same mind, having the same love, one in being and of purpose,
doing none at all through selfishness or self-conceit, but in humility consider
others better than yourselves. Each one should look out not only for his own
interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Phi
2:2-4 ISR)
