Shevat 17
Forever Settled

For ever, O LORD, thy word is SETTLED in heaven.”  (Ps 119:89 KJV, emphasis mine)

There are those of us that have spent some time on the inside of a courtroom, giving us a little experience as to the workings of our judicial system.  When all of the legal procedures have run their course, and all that remains is the judge’s decision, stress is heightened and nerves are frayed.  However, when the gavel comes down, the decision is made, and it is “settled”; it is finished.

Noah Webster defines “settled” as “to make certain or permanent, to determine, to adjust or confirm, to establish, to be free from doubt”[1].  We know that “forever” relates to a time of infinite duration, or an unending future.  Therefore, from our opening verse, we are able to understand that the Word of our Elohim is infinitely and permanently established; it is confirmed; and it is never to change, nor is it subject to appeal!

“The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.”  (Mat 24:35 ISR, emphasis mine)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. He was in the beginning with Elohim.”  (John 1:1 ISR)

“… All flesh is as grass, and all the esteem of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the Word of Elohim remains forever.” (1Pet 1:24-25 ISR, emphasis mine)
