Shevat 28
Well-Watered
“For he shall be as a
tree planted by the rivers of water
…” (Ps 1:3 ISR)
When we purchased our property
six years ago, we were handed a basically virgin piece of ground with a house
sitting on it. There was really no yard
around the house to speak of, and certainly no lawn at all. We have since been attempting to create
something – planting flowers here, a few trees there, an island with various
flowers in the middle. However, what
surprised us the most was the cottonwood trees that have appeared out of
nowhere, trees that we did not plant,
some of which are now over six feet tall!
All we can surmise is that the cottonwood seeds must have been deposited
by the many birds that fly in and out of our yard (we feed the birds), and then
with the added water (I water daily during the summer), these “gate-crashing”
trees have exploded in growth.
Water is frequently
indicative of YHWH’s Word, the Torah.
And as with these cottonwood trees, the more “water” that is applied to
our lives, the more we will grow, and grow.
With less “water”, our growth is minimal, and our fruit is stunted. May we all find ourselves with an unquenchable
thirst for the kadosh – holy, and set apart - things of our Creator, for His truth, and His ways. In Yeshua’s Name, AMEIN!
“O Elohim, You are my Ěl; I earnestly seek
You; My being has thirsted for You; My flesh has longed for You In a dry and
thirsty land without water.” (Ps 63:1 ISR)
“As a deer longs for the water streams, So
my being longs for You, O Elohim. My being thirsts for Elohim, for the
living Ěl. When shall I enter in to appear before Elohim?”
(Ps 42:1-2 ISR)
“And they shall come in
and shall sing on the height of Tsiyon, and stream to the goodness of יהוה, for grain and for new wine and for oil, and for the young of
the flock and the herd. And their being shall be like a well-watered garden, and never languish again.” (Jer 31:12
ISR, emphasis mine)
