Shevat 15
To Cleave

“But ye that did CLEAVE unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.”  (Deu 4:4 KJV, emphasis mine)

“But you who are CLINGING to יהוה your Elohim are alive today, every one of you.” (Deu 4:4 ISR, emphasis mine)

Memory foam is a fascinating substance, and I can still remember when I purchased my first memory foam pillow.  I would watch in amazement the indentation of my handprint, when I continuously pressed my open hand in different places on the pillow.  How the foam would mold itself to the shape of my hand was a source of wonder to me, and it still is.  Amazing stuff, this memory foam.

In a sense, we are to be like this “memory foam”, molding and shaping ourselves around the person and character of our Elohim.  The word translated in our opening verse into the word “cleave”, is related to the Hebrew word dābaq (Strong’s #H1692), which is the word found in Genesis 2:24, speaking of the “joining together” (cleaving) of Adam and Eve.  Just as Adam is to “cleave” to his wife, in other words, be united with, stick and adhere to, join to, abide with, be welded and be molded to, so are we to “cleave” to our YHWH Elohim.

It is not unusual to find a married couple, (traditionally, a man and a woman) who have spent their entire adult lives married to each other, and end up resembling one another other.  Not only in physical appearance, but their mannerisms, and their similar forms of speech, will reflect a lifetime spent with one another.  Can people say the same of us?  Do we reflect the One that we are supposed to be “cleaving” to?  May we all be glued – like Super-Gorilla-Glue – to the One who gives and sustains life, and let us reflect His light to this dying world.

“Only, diligently guard to do the command and the Torah which Mosheh the servant of יהוה commanded you, to love יהוה your Elohim, and to walk in all His ways, and to guard His commands, and to cling to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your being.”  (Jos 22:5 ISR, emphasis mine)

Shevat 14
Healthy Eating Habits

I have not gone back from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth MORE THAN my necessary food. (Job 23:12 AMP, emphasis mine)

Americans, as a majority, are known for unsound eating habits and questionable diets.  The term “junk food junkie” originated in the United States, which is also home to the many varieties of so called “junk food”.  It is no small wonder that of the health problems millions of Americans suffer from, many are weight and diet related.  We simply do not have healthy diets, and it is a “discipline”, unfortunately, that many of us have forgotten.  As I write this, please do not feel that I am pointing fingers at anyone in particular.  ABBA Father is dealing with me first, concerning my physical diet.

We cannot afford to forget this discipline in the spiritual realm, either.  We are what we eat, both in the natural, and in the spiritual.  If we choose to consume a high calorie, high carbohydrate diet of junk food, then we must expect to pay the penalty for it.  The same principal applies in the spiritual:  if we choose to consume a diet high in straight carnality, low morals, feeding the flesh instead of the spirit, we will reap what we have sown.

“For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”  (Gal 6:8 Amp)

The answer is always the Word of our Elohim, the WORD, the WORD…

Your Words were found and I ate them; and Your Word was to me the joy and gladness of my heart. This is my comfort in my affliction; for Your Word has given me life. I have hidden Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You. I will delight myself in Your Statutes. I will not forget Your Word. It is very close to me – in my mouth, even in my heart; therefore I DO it. I trust in Your Word. And do not take the Word of Truth completely out of my mouth; for I have hoped in Your judgments. For the Word of YAHWEH is right, and all His works are in truth. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Fix my steps in Your Word; and let no evil rule over me.

For I, YAHWEH, will speak. The Word which I shall speak shall be done; it shall not be drawn out again. So says Adonai YAHWEH: Not any of My Words will be drawn out any longer. What I have spoken, that Word shall be done, declares Adonai YAHWEH. The grass withers; the flower fades; but the Word of our Elohim shall rise forever. The Word of our YAH stands forever, and it does not return void, without producing any effect, but it shall accomplish that which You please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which You sent.  Thank You, YHWH Elohim, that You are active and alert, watching over Your Word to perform it, especially IN and THROUGH me!
