WAIT ...

“’YHWH is my portion’, says my soul; ‘Therefore will I hope in Him.’ YHWH is good unto them that WAIT for Him, to the soul that seeks Him.  It is good that a man should QUIETLY WAIT for the salvation of YHWH.” (Lamentations 3:24-26 HRVS, emphasis mine)

We presently live in what is commonly called a “microwave society”.  Most everything is accomplished at speeds we do not try to measure; we complain when our computers run slow, and signal is poor for our cell phones.  The U.S. Postal Service verifies that postal patrons usually only receive hand written, personal correspondence ONCE in a two week period – the days of letter writing (certainly by hand) are long gone.

However, ABBA Father, the Elohim who created not only we frail humans, but the world we live in, is NOT on our time-table, and never will be.  He cannot be coerced or manipulated into operating on our schedule.  All too often we forget who holds the reins of the universe in His hands …

“The earth is YHWH's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.” (Psalm 24:1-2 HRVS)

A few of the ways Noah Webster defines ‘wait’ are to “1. To stay or rest in expectation; to stop or remain stationary, till the arrival of some person or event; 2. To rest in expectation and patience; 3. To stay; not to depart; 4. To wait ON {included in this are these definitions:}; 5. To look watchfully; 6. To be ready to serve; to obey” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828, insert and emphasis mine).  All of these definitions are in direct opposition to the way we currently live our lives – in the fast lane – yet they will ALL be found included within various fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Can we have self-control without learning how to wait?  And what of patience – there is a LOT of waiting involved while this fruit is being developed in our lives.

We wait on HIM, our YHWH Elohim, the One who WAS, who IS, and who IS TO COME (Revelation 1:8).  To demand that He answer us immediately, yesterday, and in a way that WE expect is nothing but arrogance and pride, and stinks in the nostrils of our Elohim (Isaiah 64:6).  Where are the times of seeking His FACE, not His hand?  Of listening for His heart-beat, instead of hearing our own voices, reciting our ‘wish’ lists?

We wait on HIM … will you join with me, as I endeavor to establish sweet and thankful communion with my Creator?

“But as for me, I will look unto YHWH; I WILL WAIT for the Elohim of my salvation; my Elohim will hear me.  (Micah 7:7 HRVS, emphasis mine)

“… But they that wait for YHWH SHALL renew their strength; they SHALL mount up with wings as eagles; they SHALL run, and not be weary; and they SHALL walk, and not faint.”  (Isaiah 40:31 HRVS, emphasis mine)
