WHO Are You Hearing?

“What has been is what will be, what has been done is what will be done, and THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN. Is there something of which it is said, “See, this is new”? It existed already in the ages before us.”   (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 CJB, emphasis mine)
When the serpent appeared to Eve in the Garden, his plan was to twist and pervert the WORD that YHWH had given to these first humans, causing them to doubt the sincerity and integrity of the Father (see Genesis 3:1-5).  When Messiah Yeshua was tempted in the wilderness by the adversary, it was the same plan and purpose that was used in the Garden.  Twisting and perverting the TORAH, the WORD of God (see Luke 4:1-13), the adversary tried to trick and trap our Master.
Please understand, brothers and sisters, our adversary (the devil) is very familiar with the WORD of YHWH, and knows it backwards, forward, and inside out.  He has studied YHWH’s Word since it was first spoken, which is why he is able to so easily pervert and twist it…

HOW you hear ...

“BE CAREFUL therefore HOW you listen. For to him who has [spiritual knowledge] will more be given; and from him who does not have [spiritual knowledge], even what he thinks and guesses and supposes that he has will be taken away.”(Luke 8:18 Amp, emphasis mine)
I have a five year old grandson that I call ‘busy’. He ‘hears’ very well; but there are times that he is not careful HOW he hears, or to put it another way, he has ‘selective hearing’.  I would think many of us have had occasions where we have been guilty of this affliction.
Hearing is one of our five physical senses, so with WHAT are we hearing, if not just our ears?  Yes, we need to hear with our ears, but we also must perceive, understand AND receive the Word of YHWH with our SPIRIT, and into our hearts.  And yet, there needs to be a willingness to hear in our hearts; we can now no longer afford to be selective in our hearing. This is part of “being circumcised in our hearts” (see Romans 2:29); are we treating the Word of YHWH …

YHWH's Instruction

“Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.”  (Proverbs 4:13 Amp)

One of the definitions listed for the word ‘instruction’ by Noah Webster, is “Precepts conveying knowledge” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828).  We can therefore reason that instruction, should we attend to it, will eventually reward us with knowledge.
However, the Hebrew word that is used here in the opening verse is the word mûsâr” (Strong’s #H4148), and includes WITH instruction the sense of discipline, correction, and if necessary, chastisement.   According to our Father and Creator, all of these are required ingredients in obtaining knowledge, something that is not standard procedure in our modern school system today.
It stands to reason that THE instructions and wisdom we are in need of are those that flow from our Master’s hand:
“For Adonai gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He stores up common sense for the upright, i…

Instruction Manual

Poverty and shame come to him who REFUSES instruction and correction, but he who heeds reproof is honored.  (Proverbs 13:18 Amp, emphasis mine)

The bottom drawer of one of my filing cabinets holds all of the instruction and owner’s manuals for virtually every appliance and equipment we own – from toasters and vacuum cleaners, to lawn mowers and my husband’s welder. The common theme between all of these manuals is 1) read all of the instructions before attempting to operate, and 2) keep and save the manual.  Yet, how often do we purchase an appliance and discard the manual, believing we already know how to operate and use it?  And how many times, because of this type of attitude, have we found ourselves in trouble, and had to go back and study the manual?
A brand new farm tractor can cost in excess of $100,000, depending on size and make.  That is a small fortune, and to not familiarize ourselves with the owner’s manual on this expensive piece of equipment is foolish.  There are safety…
