The Measure of Love

The ‘measure of love’ is love without any measure.  Unconditional love cannot be measured by any standard of measurement known to natural man, because the natural mind cannot understand a love that has no conditions attached to it.  Only by the life of one man, THEman, Messiah Y’shua, can we begin to comprehend the depths of unconditional love.
“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.” (John 13:34-35 MB)
“Little children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and SHOW IT BY OUR ACTIONS.” (1John 3:18 TLB, emphasis mine)
Unconditional love has no strings attached to it; it is a picture of giving without expecting anything in return, and it is totally self-less in its giving.  The challenge is to walk FULL of YHWH’s love toward that “particular someone” who may not be the easiest person for us to …

One Another

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who teaches us how to love and care for one another.  In all of our interactions with each other, You continually stress that we are each one created in YOUR image, and must be regarded with due respect and honor.  Thank You, ABBA, that as You encourage us in the DOING of acts of ‘chesed’, spontaneous acts of kindness and mercy, we understand that ‘chesed’ is truly “loving our neighbor as ourselves”.  By extending our hands, and ourselves, in kindness and willing assistance, we act as Your substitutes, and share Your love as well.  May we eagerly look for opportunities to participate in doing ‘chesed’, not because we have to, but because we love YOU, our Elohim Avinu, our God and Father.
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Yahweh require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy {chesed}, and to walk humbly with thy Elohim?

When Truth Prevails

“{LOVE}…does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.”1 Corinthians 13:6 Amp, insert mine)
The Book of Esther relates to us the story of the near annihilation of the Jewish people, brought about by one man:  Haman, a descendant of Agag, the Amalekite King, who was responsible for Saul’s loss of the kingship (see 1Samuel 15).  Because of Haman’s hatred for Mordecai, and for ALL the Jewish people, he plots to have all of the Jews killed.  Queen Esther calls upon her Jewish brethren to join her in fasting and prayer, after which she approaches the King to reveal Haman’s wicked plot.  The tables are turned on Haman, and “righteousness and truth prevail” (Esther 7).
Truth and righteousness begin with our God (John 1:17; Psalm 33:5).  Because Messiah Y’shua is “THE way, THE truth, and THE life” (John 14:6), truth means victory, when we walk in HIS truth. And because Y’shua is the Living Word (John 1:1), we also know that His Word is truth, abs…

Blessed are YOU, YHWH our God, King of the universe, who is the author of TRUTH.  We know, ABBA, that You are the TRUE God, the “Elohim Emet”, the God of TRUTH, and we know that grace and truth came through our Savior King, Messiah Y’shua.  We know that Your written Word, the Torah, is truth, and we know the ‘Ruach HaKodesh’, the Holy Spirit of YHWH, is the Spirit of Truth.  Thank You, Lord, for the TRUTH that we receive, for it is the standard that we can hold everything up against, that we would NEVER be deceived.  Hallelu-YAH!

“Give ear, O Israel: TODAY you are going forward to the fight; let your heart be strong; do not let uncontrolled fear overcome you because of those who are against you; For the Lord your God goes with you, fighting for you to give you SALVATION from those who are against you.”(Deuteronomy 20:3-4 BBE, emphasis mine)
In March of 2011, my husband and I moved from one side of the state of Wyoming to the other, a distance of over 350 miles, to a new home that Adonai Elohim had hand-picked for us.  Behind the house was a garden plot; I eagerly anticipated a bountiful harvest of fresh garden veggies.  However, this garden area had not been worked in about three years, and had been vigorously invaded by weeds.  There are weeds here that I have never dealt with before (horrors!), and coming from a different area, and I had to enlist the help of the local Extension Agency in identifying what is what.
Added to this, an additional ‘invader’ was a four-legged one: DEER!  Our home is in a very secl…

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who teaches me, again and again, how the principal of sowing and reaping prevails in every area of my life.  When I act (sow) in haste, I reap the consequences of it, generally NOT to my benefit.  When I give (sow) generously, with wisdom and discretion, I reap a bountiful harvest.  When I speak (sow) words in spontaneous anger and haste, I will probably reap a ‘tiger by its tail’.  When I submit every area of my life to the MASTER GARDENER, allowing Him to do the work within me of pruning, fertilizing, and watering, what I sow, at HIS direction, I will reap accordingly at HIS discretion.
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener… Stay in Me, and I stay in you. As the branch is unable to bear fruit of itself, unless it stays in the vine, so neither you, unless you stay in Me.”

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit AND truth, for the Father also does seek such to worship Him. Elohim is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit AND truth.”  (John 4:23-24 ISR, emphasis mine)
Noah Webster defines ‘worship’ as “to adore; to pay divine honors to; to reverence with supreme respect and veneration” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828).  The biblical verse that Mr. Webster quotes as an example in his definition is Exodus 34:14:  For thou shalt WORSHIP no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God …” (KJV, emphasis mine).
We were created to worship.  Everything else we do in life is an overflow from our worship.  We should receive our instructions, our marching orders, our directions, FOLLOWING our time of worship to our Creator, our Father, our Elohim, and our God.  He is always our source, and He is worthy to receive all honor, praise, glor…

Adore YOU

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who invites us to come, and BE with You.  You never force us; You invite us, but with the invitation is the promise of a loving welcome, and fellowship like no other.  You provide for us a place of security and rest, a calm haven from the storms of life.  You are our Father; we are Your children.  It is to You that we run, not for what is in Your hand, but because of what comes from Your heart.  We love You, adore You, our ABBA, and we thank You for WHO You are.

“There is nothing covered up that will not be UNCOVERED, or hidden that will not BECOME KNOWN.  What you have spoken in the dark will be HEARD in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be PROCLAIMED on the housetops.”  (Luke 12:2-3 CJB, emphasis mine)
The island I was raised on in the Caribbean is home to the first underwater National Park ever created by the U.S. National Park Service. In the clear water of the Caribbean Sea, there are underwater trails marked for both the advanced scuba diver, and the leisure snorkeler to enjoy, watching a brilliant display of tropical fish in their natural habitat. To the less brave at heart, and for those who are not aquatically inclined, there is also a glass-bottomed boat through which you are able to view many of the park’s features, without having to get wet.All of it is an adventure that is not soon forgotten.
As a young child growing up, the ‘transparency’ of the glass-bottomed boat was a phenomenon that intrigued me, an…

I WILL Love You

"And he said: I LOVE You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength.  The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I WILL trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower."  (Psalm 18:1-2 Amp, emphasis mine)

I CHOOSE to love YOU, my Adonai, my Lord, my Master.  I choose to walk in obedience to You, to walk in fellowship with You, to take up permanent residence in the holy shelter of Your wings (Psalm 91:1-4).  I choose to believe what Your Word tells me, not what my ears hear, or what my eyes see (1Peter 1:25; 2Corinthians 5:7).  I choose to stand firm upon the Rock of my Salvation (Psalm 89:26), and I choose to clasp the hand of my Father as He leads me the paths of righteousness for HIS Name's sake (Psalm 23:3).  AMEN.

Which God?

“I and the Father are ONE.” (John 10:30 Amp, emphasis mine)

Some years ago, there was a comment made here on FaceBook by a young lady that professed, and confessed, an intimate relationship of salvation with Messiah Y’shua of Nazareth, Son of the Living God.  The comment was, basically, that her writings and teachings are not “centered and based on the WORD of God – they are centered on God Himself.”  This same young lady now labels herself a “prophetess” – but whose oracle is she prophesying?
Every structure MUST have a solid firm, foundation; this is a Biblical principal (Luke 6:48).  Even our Bible is build upon the foundation of the TORAH; in the 3500 some years since it was given, TORAH still stands as strong as it ever did.  When we do not center and base ALL of our beliefs on the WORD of YHWH (both the written and the Living), then we do not have the Bible as our anchor. When we separate the Written WORD from the Living WORD, then we also separate Y’shua.  When we separate Y’shua…

My Heart Overflows

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe.  My heart overflows because of all that You have done, and continue to do, for me, in and through me – You are perfecting ALL that concerns me.  May I always be pliable in Your hands, the clay in my Master Potter’s hand, being molded and shaped into the vessel YOU have chosen me to be.  May I reflect the light – YOUR light – to those You put me in contact with, those whose paths cross mine.  And may all that I do and say be seasoned with the love of my Messiah Y’shua.  My desire is that all would know to whom I belong:  my Father, my King, my Master, my everything, my Adonai Elohim!

“Be careful that you do not refuse to listen when God speaks. Your ancestors didn’t escape when they refused to listen to God, who warned them on earth. We certainly won’t escape if we turn away from God, who warns us from heaven. When God spoke to your ancestors, His voice shook the earth.
“But NOW He has promised, “Once more I will shake NOT ONLY the earth but also the sky. The words once more show clearly that God will change what He has made. THESE are the things that can be shaken. Then only the things that CANNOT be shaken will remain.
“Therefore, we must be thankful that we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Because we are thankful, we must serve God with fear and awe in a way that pleases HIM. After all, our God is a destructive fire.”(Hebrews 12:25-29 GWT, emphasis mine)

CORRECT Correction

“Let no hateful language come from your mouth, but that which is beautiful and useful for edification that it may convey grace to those who hear.  And do not grieve the Ruach haKodesh of Elohim, whereby you are sealed for the day of redemption.”  (Ephesians 4:29-30, AENT)
“The good man brings forth what is good out of the good treasure of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked out of the wicked treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart his mouth speaks.”  (Luke 6:45, ISR)

My (natural) dad had the ‘art’ of diplomacy ‘fined tuned’ to perfection; he knew WHAT to say, HOW to say it, and did so in such a way that it NEVER caused offence.  I would receive correction in just such a manner.  It was not unusual for it to be days later before I realized that I had been corrected and disciplined, turned to the correct path, and away from the doorway of destruction.  And it was not necessarily the WORDS themselves that my dad used; it was the WAY he used them t…

Patient and Kind

“Love … is patient AND kind …”(1Corinthians 13:4 Amp, emphasis mine)
In the ninth chapter of Luke, we find Messiah Y’shua reprimanding His disciples.  “All power and authority” had been given to them (Luke 9:1); however, their desire was to abuse this HOLY “authority and power”.  Y’shua was not trying to tame their boldness – which, in itself was good – but found their motives, and the attitude of their hearts, completely in the wrong.  “IM-patient”and offended with the rejection that had been given them by a particular Samaritan town, the disciples wanted to call fire down from heaven, destroy the town, AND everyone in it (see Luke 9:51-56).
People who are impatient by nature are, as a rule, selfish and self-centered.  They are on their OWN agenda, and have little time for the needs, wants and desires of others, unless it coincides with their own.  Their love is turned inward, towards themselves, and they naturally expect, and will even demand, everyone to be patient and kind with THEM…

What is Right

Blessed are You, Adonai are our God, King of the universe, who reveals to us HOW to place our neighbor before ourselves.  We know that all of the TORAH can be summed up in two commandments: loving YOU, our Adonai Elohim, above and beyond everything imaginable, and loving our fellow human beings as we love and care for ourselves.  Thank You, ABBA, as we study Your TORAH, Your Word, to show ourselves approved, You instruct us in the many ways we can extend our hand to our brother and sister, as an extension of You.  Help us YAH, to always do what is right, not because we desire the applause, but because it is the right thing to do …

The Adversary

You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED AND STOPPED YOU from) your heeding and following the Truth?”  (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)
Satanic activity going on IN and AROUND our lives will create an obstruction, or hindrance, in our being able to clearly hear the voice of YHWH speaking to us through His Spirit.  There are times when this demonic activity will originate within the church community itself, with what the Word of God calls various and strange doctrines” (Hebrews 13:9).  The adversary will do everything that he can to stop us from hearing ANY instructions and directions that YHWH is trying to give us, concerning our walk with HIM.  If he is not successful in COMPLETELY stopping us from hearing, he will try to pervert and distort our hearing, so that what we DO hear is faulty, twisted, and wrong.
“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will ABANDON the faith and follow DECEIVING SPIRITS and THINGS TAUGHT BY DEMONS. Such teachings come t…

Too Many Counselors

You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED AND STOPPED YOU from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)
We have been discussing different elements that can hinder us from hearing clearly the voice of the Holy Spirit as He leads, teaches, guides, and directs us in our walk with YHWH.  It is unfortunate that people, well meaning and godly people, can often be a stumbling block and hindrance in our listening ability when it comes to hearing what the Lord intends for us to hear.  We MUST be careful WHO we listen to.  Talk is cheap, and advice and opinions are a dime a dozen.
In 1Kings, chapter 22, 400 men, calling themselves ‘prophets’, were in agreement that the kings of Israel and Judah were to go to war together against Syria.  However, when ONE prophet of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was brought in, God spoke death to the King of Israel (verse 17, 20), and defeat for Israel as well.  Again, we MUST be careful of who we …

“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED AND STOPPED YOU from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)
Disobedience is another significant hindrance we need to consider in being able to clearly hear and distinguish the voice of the Holy Spirit of YHWH.  This is an extremely serious offense in the eyes of Adonai Elohim.  Disobedience and rebellion is the reason the nation of Israel went into exile (see Deuteronomy 28:62-65; Jeremiah 16:10-13); from their example we can see the cost it bears to our relationship with our God and Creator.
The prefix ‘DIS’is of Latin origin, and implies a separation, or a parting from.  The word ‘obey’ means “to comply with the commands, orders or instructions of a superior, or with the requirements of law, moral, political or municipal” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828).  When we join the two words (DIS-obey), and use them to describe the behavior of an individual, we…

You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED AND STOPPED YOU from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)
Another ‘hindrance’ in hearing the voice of our Lord clearly is one many of us can confess to at one time or another in our lives: one of wrong priorities.  We find ourselves too busy, in too big of a hurry, and we will not saying NO to many of the other ‘things’ in our lives that we feel are just SO important.  What it comes down to, is WHO and WHAT has the priority in our lives?
When Messiah Y’shua was asked what He felt was the greatest commandment, what He responded with is known to the Jews as “The Sh’ma”, the first part of which is found in Deuteronomy 6:4-5. It is one of the most important prayers to a Jew, and will often be the FIRST prayer a Jewish child will learn.  It is recited as often as twice a day, in the morning and evening.
"Sh'ma, Yisra'el! Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad [Hear, Isra'el! Adonai …

Hindrance to Hearing

“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED AND STOPPED YOU from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)
There have been times while seeking Adonai YHWH for answers and direction, and it has seemed like I was talking to a brick wall.  I know I have not been the only one.  From the emails and comments that I receive asking the question, “What do I do when the Lord doesn’t answer me?” I perceive this is an area that many of us struggle with.  Granted, some of these times occur when the Lord is simply requiring us to trust HIM, and wait; however, there ARE times when we have encountered a ‘hindrance’, and we must recognize it for what it is.
Using dictionary and thesaurus, the word ‘hindrance’ is defined as an “impediment; that which stops progression or advance; obstruction; stumbling block.  A blockade, restriction; interference; sabotage; obstacle; barrier; wall” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828; Ro…

Your Voice

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who not only gives me ears to hear with, but also gives me the ability to distinguish between all of the different sounds, and the distance between one sound and another.  From the nearness of a baby’s cry, to the far away dog barking in another yard, they are all distinct in their own way. Yet it is Your voice, ABBA, that is the most precious sound of all – from the still, small sound, to the roar that is like many waters – YOUR voice, that strikes the chord within my heart.  Speak, Lord, for Your servant listens!

The Word

If ‘theWORD’ of our Elohim is not important, than why does the adversary know it so well?  Why has he taken the time to learn it inside and out, backwards and forwards?  Should WE not also learn the WORD of YHWH for ourselves, have it dwell richly IN us, for us to live, breathe, eat, sleep, the WORD?  We are told that the WORD is alive (Hebrews 4:12), that it is a weapon for our use (Ephesians 6:17), it is a shield that has been tried and tested (Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 18:30), and that the hearing of the WORD is necessary to build up our faith (Romans 10:17).  It is also the food that we need to eat (Luke 4:4) in order to stand FIRMLY in these last days …
“… and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the WORD OF GOD.  Pray {THE WORD} with unceasing prayer and entreaty on every fitting occasion in the Spirit, and be always on the alert to seize opportunities for doing so, with unwearied persistence and entreaty on behalf of all God’s people …”  (Ephesians 6:17-…

To Follow

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who gives us ears to hear, and a heart that is willing and eager to be obedient to Your Word.  Our desire is to wait upon You, to listen for YOUR voice, and to follow – not only the instructions written down for us in Your Torah, but also those instructions You confirm to us in the night seasons.  Like Samuel, let us always reply: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.”  And let us not waver, but be quick to follow the Word that is given – YOUR Word is LIFE!

“… of him He bore witness and said, I have found David son of Jesse a man AFTER My own heart, who will do all My will and carry out My program fully.”  (Acts 13:22 Amp, emphasis mine)
Years ago, when I first came to know and accept Messiah Y’shua as my own, I asked Him to explain the meaning behind this principle, of being ‘AFTER’ His heart.  The simple, yet profound, illustration that Adonai YHWH gave me is one that I have used in my own teachings, always with the same success.
Please visualize a large bundle of money on the sidewalk ahead of you, as you are strolling along.  You can clearly see what it is; the outside bill is $100, which is visible through a paper clip.  You speed up, not wanting to lose this opportunity to grab at ‘free cash’!  But just as you bend over and reach for the bundle, a sharp gust of wind comes and catches the bundle, carrying it along just a LITTLE further up the sidewalk.  You hurry to catch up, not willing to give up this opportunity.  The same thing ha…
