The Adversary

HINDRANCES TO HEARING … Part 5
“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?”  (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)

Satanic activity going on IN and AROUND our lives will create an obstruction, or hindrance, in our being able to clearly hear the voice of YHWH speaking to us through His Spirit.  There are times when this demonic activity can come forth from within the congregation of believers, with what the Word of God calls “various and strange doctrines” (Hebrews 13:9).  The adversary will do everything that he can to stop us from hearing ANY instructions and directions that YHWH is trying to give us, concerning our walk with HIM.  If he is not successful in completely stopping us from hearing, he will try to pervert and distort our hearing, so that what we DO hear is faulty, twisted, and wrong.
But the Spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall FALL AWAY from the belief, PAYING ATTENTION TO MISL…

HINDRANCES TO HEARING … Part 4
You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)

We have been examining different elements and choices that will ultimately hinder and block us from hearing the voice of YHWH.  Without clear direction and instruction from the Ruach, the HOLY Spirit of God, we would be lost in a maze of our own making.
It is unfortunate that people, well meaning and often godly people, can provide a distortion in our listening ability when it comes to hearing what the Lord intends for US to hear.  We MUST be careful who we listen to.  Talk is cheap, and advice and opinions are a dime a dozen.
In 1Kings, chapter 22, 400 men, calling themselves ‘prophets’, were in agreement that the kings of Israel and Judah were to go to war together against Syria.  However, when ONE prophet of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was brought in, God spoke death to the King of Isr…

Disobedience

HINDRANCES TO HEARINGPart 3
“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)

Disobedience to the Word of YHWH, both the written (TORAH) and the Living (Yeshua), will damage and deteriorate our ability to HEAR the direction of our God. This is an extremely serious offense in the eyes of YHWH Elohim.  Disobedience and rebellion are the reasons the nation of Israel went into exile (see Deuteronomy 28:62-65; Jeremiah 16:10-13); from their example we can see the cost it bears to our relationship with our God and Creator.
The prefix ‘DIS’is of Latin origin, and implies a separation, or a parting from.  The word ‘obey’ means “to comply with the commands, orders or instructions of a superior, or with the requirements of law, moral, political or municipal” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828).  When we join the two words (DIS-obey), and use them to describ…

Priorities

Hindrances to Hearing … Part 2
“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)

Another possible ‘hindrance’ in our hearing the voice of YHWH clearly is one many of us can confess to at one time or another in our lives: one of wrong priorities.  We find ourselves TOO busy, in TOO big of a hurry, and we will not say NO to many of the other ‘things’ in our lives that we believe are so important. What it comes down to, is WHO and WHAT has the priority in our lives?
When Messiah Yeshua was asked what the greatest commandment was, He responded with what is known to Judaism as “The Sh’ma”, the first part of which is found in the Deuteronomy 6:4-5.  It is one of THE most important prayers to a Jew, and will often be the first prayer a young Jewish child will learn. It is recited it its entirety twice a day, morning and evening.
"Sh'ma, Yisra'el! Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai…

Hindrances to Hearing

“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (HINDERED and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?” (Galatians 5:7 Amp, emphasis mine)

Most of us have experienced seasons of dryness, times when we were seeking YHWH Elohim for answers and direction, and it has seemed as if we were talking to a brick wall.  I know I have not been the only one to do so.  From the emails and comments that I receive asking the question, “What do I do when the Lord doesn’t answer me?”, I perceive this is an area that many of us struggle with.  Granted, some of these times occur when YHWH is simply requiring us to trust HIM, and wait; however, there ARE times when we have encountered a ‘hindrance’, and we must recognize it for what it is.
Using dictionary and thesaurus, the word ‘hindrance’ is defined as an “impediment; that which stops progression or advance; obstruction; stumbling block.  A blockade, restriction; interference; sabotage; obstacle; barrier; wall” (American Dictionary…

The WORD

If the written ‘WORD’ of our Elohim is not important, than why does our adversary know it so well?  Why has he taken the time to learn it inside and out, backwards and forwards?  Should we not also learn the Word of YHWH for ourselves, have it dwell richly IN us, for us to live, breathe, eat, sleep, the WORD?  We are told that the WORD is alive (Hebrews 4:12), that it is a weapon for our use (Ephesians 6:17), it is a shield that has been tried and tested (Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 18:30), it is a spotlight, guiding us along the straight and narrow path (Psalm 119:105), and that the hearing of the WORD is necessary to build up our faith (Romans 10:17).  It is also the food that we need to eat (Luke 4:4) in order to stand FIRMLY in these last days …
“… And put on the helmet of salvation and take hold of the sword of the spirit, which is the WORD of Eloah.”  (Ephesians 6:17 HRVS, emphasis mine)
Our adversary, HaSatan, will use everything he can to hinder us in spending time studying the written…

Cling

“… of him He bore witness and said, I have found David son of Jesse a man AFTER My own heart, who will do all My will and carry out My program fully.”  (Acts 13:22 Amp, emphasis mine)

Years ago, when I first came to know and accept Messiah Yeshua as my own, I asked Him to explain the meaning behind this principle, of being ‘AFTER’ His heart.  The simple, yet profound, illustration that Adonai YHWH gave me is one that I have used in my own teachings, always with the same success.
Please visualize a bundle of cash, secured with a rubber band, laying on the sidewalk ahead of you, as you are strolling along.  You can clearly see what they are; the outside bill is $100, which is visible through the rubber band.  You speed up, not fully believing what you are seeing!  However, just as you bend over and reach for the bundle, a sharp gust of wind comes and catches the cash, carrying it along just a LITTLE further up the sidewalk.  You hurry to catch up, not willing to allow this bundle to esc…

YHWH

“Yet I am YHWH your Elohim from the land of Egypt; and you know no Elohim but Me, and beside Me there is no savior.”  (Hosea 13:4 HRVS)
“IN GOD WE TRUST” – found on every monetary note of American currency …

ONE of the definitions of ‘god’, according to Noah Webster, is that of the TITLE applied to the Supreme Creator, or applied to any person or thing that is exalted, worshiped, and deified” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828, emphasis mine).  For an individual to say “I believe in God” is NOT the acceptable cure-all that has been preached for years.  The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the one that most of us claim to serve, is asking us: in WHICH god do we trust?
“You believe that Elohim is One (echad). You do well; even the demons believe and shudder.”  (James 2:19 CJB)
The God of Judeo-Christian belief does have a NAME, and He has invited, repeatedly, His children to use His name, as long as it is done so with the proper love, re…

Thoughts

“The majority of us recognize the necessity of receiving the Holy Spirit for living, but we do not sufficiently recognize the need for drawing on the resources of the Holy Spirit FOR THINKING.” Oswald Chambers (1874–1917) {emphasis mine} I have pondered this quotation many times.I am aware that many of us do not completely recognize the absolute need we have for the Spirit of YHWH operating freely in our lives; we humans tend to rely upon our own strengths much too much. But in our thought life?
From the moment when we are “born-again” of the incorruptible seed (John 3:3-8), the HOLY Breath of YAH, the sanctified ‘seed’, comes to live inside of us.But even though our spirit-man is changed at that moment, we must continue to mature and grow – just as we do in the natural realm, in the physical. That seed on the inside of us has to be nurtured and cultivated on a daily basis. And one of the ways we do this is by SERIOUS study of the Word of God, and OBEDIENCE to what we study.

Called AND Chosen

“For many are called (invited and summoned), but few are CHOSEN.”  (Matthew 22:14 Amp, emphasis mine)

There is an annual event televised internationally, a gala pageantry, recognized as the “Miss Universe” contest.  Countries from all over the world participate in this pageant, choosing, then sending their most beautiful and talented young ladies.  A process of elimination brings it down to the eventual winner of the competition, the one who will wear the crown for the coming year. From several hundred attractive and stunning women, only one is CHOSEN.
In the Book of Esther, there was a similar pageant, but the prize for this was the crown of a Queen.  There is no record of EXACTLY how many virgins were ‘called and summoned’ to this beauty contest, but according to the Word of God, Esther was the one that won the king’s love AND approval, and consequently was chosen to become Queen (Esther 2:17).
There were ten virgins – attendants – who, with their lamps, were to meet the bridegroom (se…

Long Life

“With long life will I satisfy him, and make him to behold My salvation.”  (Psalm 91:16 HRVS)

Today’s medical science has proven that worry, stress, and anxiety will cause medical problems of sufficient severity as to shorten our lifespan considerably.  Lack of peace in ALL areas of our lives is detrimental to our health; surprisingly, even infants and small children suffer from this problem.  Intimacy with a loving and caring ABBA Father would solve this situation permanently; His name is ‘Sar Shalom’, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).  And because He IS the Prince of Peace, the closer we cling to Him, He gives us HIS peace as a means to live this long and full life …
“Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [stop ALLOWING yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not PERMIT YOURSELVES to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]”  …

I Will Deliver

I will be with him when he is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor.”(Psalm 91:15 CJB)
In the 16th chapter of the book of Acts, we have the story of Paul and Silas being imprisoned in the Philippian jail.We are told how YHWH Elohim had used Paul to deliver a young girl from an evil spirit, which then caused the girl’s masters’ to become angry, and have Paul and Silas thrown into a prison. Not only were they placed within the lowest and most inaccessible part of the prison (the dungeon), but their feet were placed in stocks, a frame of wood made to immobilize the feet of prisoners for even further security.Midnight finds them in total and complete darkness, yet they were confident and assured in their praise and worship to YAH, their Father, their deliverer, and their strong tower (Acts 16:24-25).
ABBA Father came through for them. The Word describes it as a ‘great earthquake’ (Acts 16:26), and it not only opened all of the cell doors of the prison, but it also loosened all…

Give ME a Call

“He will call on ME, and I will answer him.”  (Psalm 91:15 CJB, emphasis mine)

Some years ago, we received a phone call, late in the evening, from our oldest daughter.  While on her way into town (40 miles away), she had blown a tire on her car, and, unfortunately, she had no spare tire with her.  Robin knew immediately who to phone for help, had the assurance of who would come to her assistance, and rescue her from the predicament that she was in.  Her DADDY is her ‘kinsman-redeemer’ (Ruth 3:12), by right of the blood relationship that they have, and when she calls on him, her dad answers her.  Occasionally he says ‘no’ to her requests, but he ALWAYS answers her.
Because of the relationship we now have with our ABBA Father, through our acceptance of the complete and finished work of our Messiah Yeshua,  Adonai YHWH is our ‘kinsman-redeemer’, just as my husband is to our daughter.  We now have the right, and the privilege, because of the blood sacrifice of Adonai Yeshua, to call out to …
