His Treasured Possession

My Support

“I took my rest in sleep, and then again I was awake; for the Lord was my support.” (Psalm 3:5 ERV)

Some years ago, on a trip (involving a family emergency) to Las Vegas, my husband and I took some ‘time out’ to visit Hoover Dam.  Construction was, at that time, in progress on the Hoover Dam Bypass Project, which consisted of an ENORMOUS bridge a short ways downstream of the dam.  The purpose of this bridge was to eventually carry the bulk of traffic back and forth between Nevada and Arizona, diverting them away from crossing over the narrow dam.
The span of this bridge was awe-inspiring, and I did not envy the workers up there at that height.  I later learned (thank you, Wikipedia!) that the bridge is some 900 feet above the Colorado River (gives me the shudders), and is the longest concrete arch in the western hemisphere.  It is the first of its kind to be built in the United States – a concrete and steel composite arch bridge – and is the second highest bridge in the nation.

No Account

“{Love}… takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].”  (1Corinthians 13:5 Amp, insert mine)

There is told to us a story in the Old Testament, of how ten brothers, jealous of a younger one, sold THIS younger brother into slavery, never expecting to see him again (Genesis 37:12-36).  Adonai YHWH, however, had other plans, and worked all things together for the good of everyone concerned (Romans 8:28).  YHWH used these very circumstances for the deliverance of the entire family, teaching a significant lesson to all of us through the ages.  This younger brother, Joseph, rose from the status of a lowly slave in a prison, to that of prime minister of ALL of Egypt, never holding a grudge against his brothers for what they did to him (Genesis 45:5-9; 50:19-20).  Joseph’s trust was in his Adon Elohim, knowing that God would turn all things around for good, because he trusted in the One who cannot lie (The Lord was WITH Joseph – Genesis 39:2-3, 21,23; 41:3…

Draw Near

Let us DRAW NEAR with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”  (Hebrews 10:22 WoY, emphasis mine)

In the Greek New Testament, the word translated for us in this verse as ‘draw near’ is one word: “proserchomai” (Strong’s #G4334), and has a rich meaning to it.  Within the phrase ‘draw near’, we find the concept of coming TO someone, approaching them, with the desire to have a conversation.  When used in reference to YHWH Elohim, the phrase implies “coming to God, drawing near to Him in prayer, sacrifice, worship, devotion of heart and life, with the intention of becoming His disciple and follower” (Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament ©1992).
However, there is a condition that must FIRST be met BEFORE we are able to draw near to our ABBA Father.  We must appropriate for ourselves the cleansing blood of Messiah Yeshua, and allow His blood to remove all of the sin stains that are still li…

Truth

“Still, you want TRUTH in the inner person; so make me know wisdom in my inmost heart.”  (Psalm 51:6 CJB, emphasis mine)

̛Emet” (Strong’s #H571) is the Hebrew word for ‘truth’, and it is a foundational word to LIFE.  In the Hebrew language, the word ̛ emet” is spelled with three letters, the first, middle, and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet.  Ancient Jewish wisdom has  interpreted this to mean that truth bonds everything YHWH created together, from the first to the last, including ALL that is in the middle.  Truth denotes a dependability, a reliability, a trustworthiness, and something, or someone, that you can stake your life on.  And that is exactly what we do, when we take our Messiah Yeshua at HIS word:
“Yeshua said, "I AM the Way — AND the truth AND the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.”  (John 14:6 CJB, emphasis mine)
However, truth is also an intense light (see John 8:12), and will bring under inspection certain areas of our lives that might not be li…

Great Was The Fall

“And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell--and great and complete was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:27 Amp)

Several years ago, my husband and I suffered through a particularly severe storm, which announced itself with loud, howling winds. One of our older cottonwood trees (it stood by the creek that runs through the bottom part of our property) was snapped off approximately 6 feet above the ground, just like it was a tooth-pick. What was equally shocking to see was how rotten the inside of this tree was. Most of the main part of the trunk was hollow with rot, while the upper part of the tree seemed firm and full of life, covered with leaves, and gave the appearance of health.
My husband and I contemplated this tree for about a week, where it had fallen: half on one side of the creek, and the remaining half on the other side of the creek, with many branches trailing IN the creek. We praised ABBA Father for the steep sides of the banks …

The Best

“Love … is ever ready to believe the BEST of every person …” (1Corinthians 13:7 Amp, emphasis mine)
Noah Webster defines ‘gossip’ as “one who runs from house to house, tattling and telling news; an idle tattler” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828).  A very dangerous practice, as often what is told is the amended truth, and this ‘new’ version may have destroyed lives in the retelling.  Ancient Jewish Wisdom condemns this practice of gossip, even to the one who listens, for it is criticizing and maligning one that is made in the image of God.
“A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.” (Proverbs 16:28 NLT)
When we walk in YHWH Elohim’s love, we CHOOSE, by a deliberate act of our will, to NOT listen to, or accept, the negative reports concerning people that we know and love.  Instead, we choose to believe in the saving grace of our Messiah Yeshua, knowing that He is not “desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be tur…
